Without a Visual, Your MSP’s Social Media Posts Are Being Overlooked
Social media marketing is important... but if you’re not doing it right, your time and efforts are wasted. One common thing we see many MSP’s do wrong is failing to add any visual content to go with their posts. Let us explain why doing so is crucial if you want to make sure your business is seen.
Why Visual Content is So Important
Visual information is processed more quickly and more often than text-based information, and this information goes directly into a person’s long-term memory. This doesn’t guarantee that a person will be able to retrieve all of that information, but they will be more likely to remember something related to the visual.
Because of this, visual information is vital to the success of your marketing: you want your target audience to remember your company and brand, absorb your messaging, and actually act on it. Including some sort of visual can increase the chances of this happening.
Visuals and Social Media
As a business, it’s extremely important that your posts include some sort of visual. Because social media is meant to be - like the name sounds - a ‘social’ place for people to connect, social media algorithms often prioritize personal connections over business-to-person connections unless you’re paying to promote your posts. It’s also a LOT easier to overlook a plain text post compared to one with a visual! The extra couple of seconds that your audience takes viewing a post of yours with a visual could be the difference between a visit to your website that, ultimately, leads to a conversion.
To give your MSP an edge over other business accounts your audience comes in contact with on social media, you need to pick some sort of high quality, relevant visual to go with all of your posts. The following are some tips to help you pick the best visuals to go with the posts you share.
Pick Properly Sized Images
Make sure you’re familiar with social media image dimensions of the major platforms. You want to make sure the important parts of your image are visual without having to click into the post itself. Check the preferred dimensions as given by the platforms themselves:
- Facebook - Best sizes are 720, 960, or 2048 pixels wide
- Twitter - 16:9 aspect ratio with a minimum of 600 x 335 pixels, but recommended to be at least 1200 x 675 pixels
- LinkedIn - 1.91:1 aspect ratio (at least 1200 x 627 pixels); images should be more than 200 pixels wide
- Instagram - Aspect ratio of between 1.91:1 and 4:5; at least 320 x 320 pixels, but best quality if at least 1080 pixels
Stock Images Are Your Friend
You get access to using a lot of great, high quality images if you’re willing to use stock images. This can enable you to find the best images to go with your posts.
Upload Videos
Video marketing is a powerful tool. If you have videos, upload them to social media and share them! You can just share a link to them on YouTube… however, they will perform better if they are uploaded to each platform individually since social media algorithms favor this method.
Include GIFs (Where Applicable)
Facebook and Twitter are compatible with GIFs, and using these moving images is a great way to get your MSP noticed.
Show off Your Office
Not every image that you share should be a stock image! When it makes sense to, show off your business, its employees, and your company culture by sharing pictures and videos you take around the office.
